Sandymount Hotel

The proposed architectural design for Sandymount Hotel introduces two new passenger lift cores to improve the speed and capacity of the outdated existing lifts at the front and center of the hotel. This project involves demolishing and reconstructing the current lift cores to accommodate larger lift carriages and replacing obsolete machine rooms with concealed hydraulic equipment.

This upgrade not only addresses functional needs but also enhances the hotel's overall look and accessibility. The design for the front focuses on visibility, creating a transparent structure that serves as a guiding beacon for guests with mobility impairments. It integrates with the recently refurbished link building, modernizing the façade while avoiding visual clutter with the original period style.

The new lift core features contemporary black aluminum panels, providing a sleek appearance that complements the existing design elements. An innovative LED lighting scheme illuminates the glazed lift core, creating subtle gradients and colors that enhance the hotel’s façade and make it a striking feature at night.

The second lift core, located in the center of the hotel, is enlarged for increased capacity while remaining discreetly hidden from view. Its height matches that of the existing cores, ensuring seamless integration into the hotel’s design.
